You’re going to see what’s so horrible at the end of the trailer, but if I’m completely honest it’s not as bad as it might seem at first. Considering the volumes in play there, it’s actually sort of ok.
See what I’m talking about? You could still drink the water afterwards and it would be just as pure as before the mighty eagle performed his “horrible” deed. But that’s besides the point, I continue to not be on board with this animation, it just feels like a bad Saturday morning cartoon, the kind that’s so over the top it becomes hard to watch even for a 12-year-old. Or maybe that’s just me. I mean at the end of the day The Angry Birds Movie doesn’t have to be for everyone, that’s ok, but at least they should try to rely on more than just name recognition to turn this into a successful movie franchise.
The Angry Birds Movie is one of the four video game adaptations set to come out in 2016, with Ratchet and Clank, Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed being the other three. Hopefully at least one of them will be good, suffice it to say I don’t think The Angry Birds Movie will be it.
Jason Sudeikis, Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Keegan-Michael Key and more lend their voices to various characters in the animation. The Angry Birds Movie opens May 13th in the UK and May 20th in the US.
