Star Wars: The Force Awakens has 5 nominations, film editing, original score, visual effects, sound editing and sound mixing. While the Academy snubbed them for the Best Picture award, Carol and The Danish Girl got a total of 6 and 4 nominations respectively in other categories.

Also of note, Sylvester Stallone is back at the Oscars after 39 years, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Creed. This could be his first statue (he was nominated twice in 1977 for Rocky but did not win). The awards will be given on February 28th.
