Mel Gibson is back (some might say he never left) and no, Blood Father is nothing like Taken i was only trying to be cunning, besides the daughter thing and him talking to the bad guys on the phone.
“An ex-con reunites with his estranged wayward 16-year old daughter to protect her from drug dealers who are trying to kill her.”
As crazy as he might be in real life, I still think Mel Gibson is an exceptional actor, so I’m glad to see him lead a movie once again, especially when he’s playing crazy Mel. Even better, Blood Father is apparently pretty good too. The action flick has been making the rounds at various festivals, including Cannes, and critical reception around it has been generally positive with the movie currently at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes after 6 counted reviews.
Jean Francois-Richet directed Blood Father with a screenplay by Andrea Berloff and Peter Craig, the latter also wrote the novel of the same name on which this is based on. Starring in the movie are Mel Gibson, William H. Macy, Diego Luna and Erin Moriarty.
Blood Father was first screened in May at Cannes and will be coming to theaters on August 12th (IMDB) or August 26th (wiki), I’m just gonna leave both here (although I tend to trust IMDB more with these things).
