When we talk about soundtracks, we tend to remember songs that had a profound effect on our favorite movies. Some of our filmmakers go extra miles to make good soundtracks for their movies while others pay little or no attention to it.
At Yeyepikin, These are our Top 12 Best Nollywood Movie Soundtracks. Disagree with us, I have just said our favorites. So Cheers and, feel free to add yours.
12. HALF OF A YELLOW SUN
Mr. Kokomaster himself, D banj composed one of the soundtracks for the adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s “Half of a Yellow Sun” D banj also worked alongside Yewande Sadiku and Onyeka Onwenu for the soundtrack album. Though, there were some mixed feelings as regards the choice of D Banj for the soundtrack, I believe he must have been given specifications on the type of song needed, in this case, a love song. And he did it. There are so many other soundtracks for the movie, but this is my best, Don’t ask me why.
11. COUPLE OF DAYS
Soul singer Omotayo composed and performed the OST of Tolu Awobiyi’s romantic drama “Couple of days”. The soundtrack is titled Stay. Stay was produced by OMO and was accompanied with a video. Stay is cool, it’s an heart-offering with so much connecting lyrics and rhythm.

Ayomi Is a nollyoruba (Abi wetin Dem dey call am self) romantic drama. The producer, Oluwasina Bunkunmi composed and performed the soundtrack. This girl is talented. Its rare to see someone who is a scriptwriter, Actress and producer..I am not really a fan of Yoruba movies but this one is dope. The movie stars Gabriel Afolayan, Yemi sholade, Joke Muyiwa among others and directed by Muyideen Oladapo.
9. HEAVEN’S HELL
3rd World War is the official soundtrack of Katung Aduwak movie “Heaven’s Hell”. Jesse Jagz and Femi Kuti collaborate to give a nice OST of the Nigerian Pyscho-thriller movie. Mr Jagz did a wonderful job on this. We learnt Censors Board delayed the release due to the presence of some “explicit and inciting content”. The OST was accompanied with a video directed by J. O king.

8. MADAM DEAREST
Tade Ogidan’s Madam dearest is one of the best Nollywood movie in history. The producer went ahead to release a soundtrack album which featured all actors and actresses that has worked with him. My best is Aiye Le, it features Bukky Ajayi, Shola Shobowale, RMD to mention but a few. Thought it was going to be the joke of the century when I saw it coming but the actors all did great and it’s just perfect for the movie.
7. TANGO WITH ME
Mahmood Ali-Balogun’s “Tango with me” OST was composed and performed by British born Ebisan (Real Name: Bukola Damola). The OST is titled “SURU”. Ebisan is one of the rising stars in the music scene. The soundtrack beautifully compliment Joseph and Genny’s look together. Suru is an amazing theme song for a block buster like “Tango with Me”.
6. PHONE SWAP
Exemplary composer, writer, musician and producer TRUTH has worked with artistes, movie directors, TV stations, etc for music composition and performancs. Some of whom are Kunle Afolayan (on Irapada), Tope Oshin Ogun, Nodash, music/lifestyle channel Nigezie, he also composed the OST of “The meeting”. Kunle Afolayan employed his service for the OST of his movie “Phone Swap”. The song titled “Fate Has A Plan” was co-written by multiple award winning director NODASH. Wonderful lyrics, and just like a Naija remake of 3 Idiots “Al iz well”.
5. KNOCKING ON HEAVEN’S DOOR
The soundtrack of Emem Isong’s ”Knocking On Heavens Door” was written by Evaezi and produced by George Nathaniel. If there’s anything I love about this soundtrack, it’s the fusion of the male and female’s voice. Infact, double twale for Evaezi.
4. THE NARROW PATH
I love Beautiful Nubia, he is a genius. His songs are built on rich folkloric traditions. He composed the soundtrack of Tunde kilani’s “The narrow path”. The soundtrack was able to move the audience the way it was meant to. The soundtrack harmonization also made the movie a delight to watch.
3. THE FIGURINE (ARAROMIRE)
Kunle Afolayan is one of the filmmakers that pays great attention to his movie soundtracks, if you have seen all his movies, you will understand what I am saying. After I watched The Figurine (Araromire), I searched for the soundtrack online the way I searched for a missing script in my final year, google can bear me witness. And thank God I found it. The soundtrack was composed and performed by wale waves and Produced by Netto, for Cisum Ent., and George Nathaniel. Shey na incantations or chants, that track is amazing, Mr Afolayan couldn’t have used something better.
2. MR & MRS
If you are a fan of J Martins, you will agree with me that the guy knows all the ingredients in making a jollof music. Chinwe Egwuagu employed the service of Mr Justice for the movie soundtrack and he delivered, Everything about the soundtrack is dope, the beat, the lyrics.

1. NO GOOD TURN
We all know brymo olawale is a master in the game. The Ex-Choc Boyz Artiste did the original soundtrack of the movie “No Good Turn” titled “In the city”. No good turn is produced and directed by the Dallas-born Nigerian film-maker Udoka Oyeka.. In the city remains my best movie soundtrack, the track is classic. Good vocal with wonderful lyrics. Mr Olawale deserves an award for this track joor. It’s presently my ringtone and i am not planing to change it anytime soon. Though i haven’t seen the movie but from what I can see from the OST video, I know its going to be great.
