“Several years after his disappearance at the conclusion of The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne unexpectedly resurfaces at a time when the world is faced with unprecedented instability.”
Jason Bourne comes out almost exactly nine years after The Bourne Ultimatum, which ended the Bourne trilogy on a very high note both critically and at the box office with a series best $442.8 million worldwide. Even though that film made Universal Pictures a lot of money, I didn’t actually think we’d ever see Matt Damon back as Jason Bourne. But then everything fell into place at the right time with the right people and here we are now, ready for another one of these. I’m definitely not complaining, all the Bourne movies have been pretty great (even spin-off The Bourne Legacy wasn’t that bad), and the trailer looks like everything you’d want from a new installment in the series.
The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass was back behind the camera on Jason Bourne. He also penned the screenplay with Christopher Rouse, based on the characters created by Robert Ludlum. Starring in the action thriller are Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander and Vincent Cassel.
Jason Bourne opens July 29th in the US. This is without a doubt one of the most anticipated movies of the summer.
