In other news the grass continues to be green while the sky is still blue. But seriously, I can’t think of a bad movie they made together so of course I’m excited for The Devil in the White City.
This would be the 6th collaboration between the two after Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Shutter Island (2010) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). Those movies won a total of 9 Oscars including Best Picture, Director (Scorsese) and absolutely nothing for Leonardo DiCaprio, because we all know the Academy hates him.
The new movie is based on the book “The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic and Madness At The Fair That Changed America” by Erik Larson. Leonardo DiCaprio will play Dr. H. H. Holmes, a man who is believed to have killed anywhere from 27 to over 200 people during the 1893 World’s Fair hosted by Chicago. The serial killer would lure his victims to their death in an expertly constructed “Murder Castle”. Now I don’t know about you but I am sold! Who knows, maybe the Academy will like DiCaprio as a serial killer.
There’s no release date yet for The Devil in the White City, but I’m guessing a late 2016 premiere is pretty likely as this will be the next project for the duo.
