Omoni Oboli’s “Wives on Strike” premiered on April 8, 2016. According to the actress, who directed, co-produced and starred in the movie, “Wives on Strike” grossed over 15 million Naira in just three days, making it ‘the highest grossing opening weekend Nollywood movie.’

The movie is a hilarious comedy about a group of market women who decided to take matters into their own hands against their husbands in a bid to stir them into standing up for a young girl whom they wanted to protect from the wishes of her own father.
The women, who hilariously interpret their roles, set a series of events in motion to give the movie many moments of laughter without missing a beat on the reason for everyone to know why they are on strike
“Wives on Strike” kicked off its first cinema week with 290 showing times.
“Wives on Strike” features Uche Jombo, Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma Mcdermott, Kehinde Bankole, Kalu Ikeagwu, Julius Agwu, Kenneth Okonkwo among others.
Oboli made her directorial debut with the romantic comedy ‘Being Mrs Elliott.’ Her second directorial debut “The First Lady,” had also opened as the highest grossing opening weekend Nigerian film in cinemas.
