I can now see why we saw hardly any animals talk in the previous trailer for The Jungle Book, it just looks sort of strange. The combination of photo-real animals and human voices seems somewhat off. Maybe 5 minutes in you get used to it and by the end you stop noticing anything weird, or maybe my stupid adult brain is at fault. I’m still just as excited for The Jungle Book as I was a couple of months ago when they first showed it, that hasn’t changed one bit, but I’m also somewhat concerned some people might find it slightly off-putting.
“Mowgli is a boy who was raised by the Indian wolves Raksha and Akela. When the fearsome Bengal tiger Shere Khan threatens his life, Mowgli leaves his jungle home. Guided by Bagheera the black panther and Baloo the bear, he sets out on a journey of self-discovery.”
Starring newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli, The Jungle Book will feature the voices of Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Bill Murray (Baloo), Idris Elba (Shere Khan), Scarlett Johansson (Kaa), Lupita Nyong’o (Raksha), Giancarlo Esposito (Akela) and Christopher Walken (King Louie). Jon Favreau directed with a screenplay by Justin Marks, based on the collection of stories of the same name by Rudyard Kipling.
The Jungle Book opens April 7th in Australia and then April 15th in the US.
